Archipelago is a "cyclical adventure game", served in bite-sized daily levels. Each real-world day has its own unique level, and players return to levels week after week to uncover more secrets. It tells the story of a traveler searching for a home in an island country, inspired by my experience leaving my birth country and immigrating to Denmark.
Archipelago blends the "daily challenge" design of modern casual games with traditional adventure game narrative design in order to tell a different kind of story and create a new kind of relationship with players. Its inspirations include religious lectionaries and other cyclical storytelling traditions, Ursula Le Guin's Carrier Bag Theory of Fiction, and issues such as migration, memory and ecology.
