We like to call Dead Cells a RogueVania (yeah we like to make up words), and by that we mean the illegitimate child of a modern Roguelite (Rogue Legacy, Binding of Isaac, Enter the Gungeon, Spelunky, etc.) and an old-school MetroidVania (Castlevania: SotN and it's ilk).

Regarding the latter, Interconnected levels and progressive unlocking of access to the island provides you with a real incentive to explore your surroundings. Add in a degree of evolution for your character and permanent weapon upgrades and you can see where Dead Cells borrows from the long line of MetroidVanias that precede it.

At the end of the day though, it's YOUR skills as a player that matter most! Roguelites are about constantly getting better, until what was an insurmountable obstacle becomes a walk in the park. Unforgiving combat wed to the absence of any kind of safety net makes for an adrenalin pumping ride each and every run and unrivaled replayability.

Dead Horizon is a short and dirty point and click adventure game for your home computer system. Play as Bonnie Starr, a former farmgirl turned infamous pistoleer as she attempts to gain redemption at the end of a gun.

Dead Horizon is inspired by the light gun games of old. The real old ones, like the original Wild Gunmen, Namco Quick & Crash, and Mad Dog McCree. This game was inspired by those and the developer's own fascination with westerns and their machismo focused story lines on masculinity, murder, and guns. This game has all those things, and more! And very, very short. (10 minute play time)

Defend the Cake is a strategic and scrumptious tower defense game set in a fantastical food themed world where you defend castles made of cake from ants and other bugs coming to steal a slice. Take your time planning and building long windy mazes out of toast, and place defenses on top of them to fend of the bugs. Then, when you are ready, send your workers out to power up your defenses in real time to give them the extra help they need to thwart the enemy. Ready for an additional challenge? Test your maze against endless escalating waves of bugs in Score Attack, and see if you can score high enough to top the leaderboard.

With Defend the Cake, we seek to create a more strategy-oriented tower defense that we hope will satisfy veterans of the genre, coupled with a fun, whimsical aesthetic that we hope will invite newcomers as well. At the start of every level, you choose where to place your Cake on the map, which can lead to many possible strategies for defending it. Each turn, the number of actions you can perform is limited by the number of Eggbird workers you have, so you must think ahead and plan carefully.

Take control of a decrepit spaceship, hurtling across the inky Black towards the red planet, Ares — and the hope it represents. Everything will fall apart, the crew will suffer, and resources will disappear.

You are the ship's artificial intelligence. They're relying on you.

Keep flying, no matter what it takes.

Destination Ares is a game about humanity. It's a lens into the cruelty, fallibility, idiocy, isolation, kindness (and potential redemption) inherent in all of us. It's about the struggles we face and that we cause each other to face. It's about groping in the dark for a better way.

It's a hard game. There's no shame in never reaching the end; perseverance can be it's own reward. After all, losing is *FUN*.

Good luck, AI.

Dialogue: A Writer's Story is a relaxing game about conversations in everyday life. In Dialogue, you play as the writer Lucille Hawthorne, exploring characters and events through a year in her life via mostly ordinary, and occasionally fantastical, conversations.

Exploratory conversations map different subjects spatially, allowing for backtracking and finding new paths, while emails can be arranged and edited.

Enshrouded World is a vehicular combat experience that features non-linear progression and survival elements not seen in the genre until now. These features complement each other and work to build a strong relationship between player and hovercraft that must be maintained in order to survive.

-The Story So Far-

The 21st century saw the dwindling of resources, large scale extinction and an overpopulation crisis that led to a desperate final effort to prevent further destruction to Earth's ecosystem. Rapid progression in the field of virtual reality offered the opportunity to escape from the increasingly dire conditions on Earth; an attractive proposition that saw millions migrate to a series of underground facilities. These facilities were provided with an independent oxygen supply generated by artificial environments housing a wide range of flourishing fauna and flora.

Tensions rose between the limited law enforcement institutions on the surface and the disgruntled masses leading to the establishment of an autocratic entity known as the Watchdog. The Watchdog erected small police states that ensured the safety and security of the underground facilities providing them with the most sophisticated and lethal security devices available. As time passed and the Earth began to heal more rapidly habitable zones were established and now the time has come for everyone to return to the surface.

Players assume the role of Jill, a botanist who has been plucked from a Watchdog police state and placed within a team overlooking the exodus from an oxygen production facility. The Watchdog's intentions with Jill aren't as simple or innocent as they may seem and while Jill's life prior to Watchdog subsumption has been buried it's beginning to catch up with her.

-Gameplay Outline-

*Enshrouded World breathes new life into vehicular combat, a genre consisting mostly of action orientated racing games by incorporating survival elements and a unique approach to the way in which the player progresses through the world.

*The key components of Enshrouded World's gameplay are combat, exploration, survival and management which are intertwined by a central relationship between the player and their hovercraft. Resources important to the player's survival are scattered throughout environments that may only be scavenged outside the safety of the hovercraft. In this vulnerable state the player must manage their time wisely as a finite amount of oxygen and dramatically decreased defense against enemies await the player.

*The player always has a number of options when it comes to survival, confrontations with enemies can be evaded and focusing on obtaining certain items will offer more paths that lead to a greater amount of supplies in the long term. Since each environment in the game is connected to another in a web as opposed to a straight line there are many branching paths the player can take to progress in a non-linear way at the pace they want.

This zine is a collection of life experiences, commentary on struggle, and oddly enough my own version of a power-fantasy. I have come to think that we have a backward idea of power, and perception of strength. We always have, and I think this is a byproduct of a historically patriarchal system. From religion, to politics, to economics, power is viewed as how many people you can subjugate. Respect is how many people fear you because of your power. How you can get what you want at the expense of others, how you are the biggest dog in the dog-eat-dog world that we have created for ourselves...
Our popular entertainment has always drawn from this point of view. It's simply fact. You use your power to hurt your enemies and eliminate them.
We don't really have a concept, in our culture, or discussion about alternative views of power from a survivor's standpoint. How is it like for survivors? Are people that live with trauma strong? Are people with mental disorders, or PTSD strong? Why is suicide seen as selfish and weak, when the person that lived with it got as far as they did? We don't popularly view survivors, victims, traumas, etc, as strength. It is a weakness, and I don't like that. I think this is because we have created a culture where we cannot really ever move past pain. We don't teach people how to heal, to overcome, or be powerful. We teach people to be perpetual survivors. We live with pain, but no way of transcending it. I think a lot of this can be credited to how we view "strength". I don't think the icon, epitome, of strength should be how many people you can hurt, conquer, overcome, but how much of this abuse you can overcome. How long you can live with what happened to you. How strong you are for being here. How powerful you are for being strong because you have no other option but to be strong.
Surviving is one thing, but living with it is an entirely different fight, and I think this is where examples of real strength are.
If approached from this point of view then it is an obvious conclusion that you should be celebrated simply for being here.
You are normal for your imperfections, and the way you cope. You are the hero in the story of your life, and you have every right to be proud.
These are a collection of very abstract life experiences, things I felt while going through hard times, and how I felt, or moved on, afterward.
A lot of it is presented via humor, or creates ridiculous circumstances, because I feel like life is ridiculous. It's one damn thing after the other and after a while there's nothing left to do but laugh at it. Humor is what helps take the edge off, perhaps even create a platform for transcendence. Either way, it has been cathartic.

Human civilization is in shambles. You lead a group of survivors whose goal is to rebuild civilization as you see fit.

You begin in an infected village. Scour through infected buildings to find new resources to survive, clean them and convert them into what your new society needs (houses, hospitals, cafeteria...).
Along the way you will encounter other groups of survivors who have also escaped the apocalypse. You decide whether they join your community or leave them to fend for themselves. But be careful: not everyone can be trusted.

All your survivors have specific skills, personality traits and needs that you will have to fulfill if you want them to stay a happy and active member of the community. They will forge relationships, and eventually found new families.

As the world stretches far and wide, you will be able to send out expeditions beyond the borders of your village, find new recruits and locations to explore, and bring back resources to keep your community healthy and safe.

Be warned: this world is full of danger and you will have to make tough decisions. Not everyone can be saved with the meager resources at your disposal. Will you sacrifice those who don't benefit your community, or will you try and save everyone? The choice is yours.

Will you be a benevolent leader, or will you murder and rob those who don't agree with your vision of this new world?

Forts is a physics-based RTS PC game of building, battling and causing rubble, in which players must build their base from scratch, load it out with heavy weaponry, and blast their opponent's fort to bits.

As well as featuring the traditional RTS mechanics of resource collection, tech tree development, and weapon unlocking, Forts adds the excitement of building a structurally sound base, and defending it from attackers, who are doing the same in real-time.

Forts features a single-player campaign, which follows three super-powers as they battle it out over the last of the planet's resources. Through the tutorials and 28 challenging missions, players will learn the physics, features and controls required to build a successful fort.

The game also features online multiplayer, in which up to eight players can take each other on in Team Death Match or Team Co-op mode, in which control of forts and resources are shared. Nine commander characters, all with game-changing abilities, ensure no two battles are the same.

Four Horsemen is a deeply narrative life sim, similar in form but not style to Japanese visual novels like Fate/stay Night and the non-dungeoneering sections of the Persona series. You control a party of four immigrant teenagers who find a derelict, abandoned Second World War era machinegun bunker at the edge of town, and turn it into a secret clubhouse, buying, crafting, and scavenging items to make it feel more like home. In a microcosm of the building of a real immigrant community, the fate of the clubhouse, and the purpose it serves, is up to you. No matter what you choose, cultural differences, xenophobia, historical trauma, and the natural rhythms of your adoptive country will hinder you at every turn.

The central mechanic is that the game's protagonists hail from one of twelve different fictional homelands, each of which has its own history, cultural values, and loanword vocabulary. At the start of the game, you pick a homeland, and the game matches you with an adoptive country in a historical relationship that echoes the lived experience of an immigrant crisis from real-life history. Like a real immigrant, you'll have to figure out the cultural values and expectations of your new home to produce the best possible outcomes, and navigate the personal consequences of your homeland's fraught relationship with your adoptive country. No two countries play alike, and the optimal set of choices in one country may lead to tragic, catastrophic failure in another.

-Scenario-
Long ago, when gods lived amongst people...

There lived a swordsman who was given five swords forged by god himself.

Using these swords, the swordsman brought peace and order to the world.

People called the swordsman, "Wielder of the Five Swords"...

One day, during a fete to praise the gods, the blades of the swordsman turn against the gods for reasons unknown.

One of the gods, Ozone, furious with all his powers, sealed the swordsman away at the top of a mountain now known as Swords Peak.

This tale begins 5,000 years after the battle between the two, near a the small village of Cardina.

-Game Overview-

"Seamless open-world game mechanics"
While the game features a rather old school "quarter view" mechanic, the map transitions and event scenes, even the combat is all seamless as can be to enhance the overall gaming experience.

"Real time strategic action battle system"
Utilizing 2 primary attack buttons, users can assign different weapons to each button to create a unique combo that fits the users need as they go. Monsters, bosses and stage gimmicks can require a specific type of weapon at times creating opportunities for users to strategize their best route of approach.

"Customizable Tattoo system"
Utilizing "tattoos", users are given specific points upon leveling to get the protagonist inked as a form of powering up so it could be built to one's own. Raising MAX HP and Stamina, learning new and special moves are just a few of many ways players are able to customize their character depending on their play style.

Goliath VR is a local multi player game that makes use of one player's real physical body to extend the level for the other player to explore. The two players are named Goliath and David and the playing experience for each of the players is completely different. Goliath controls a real time created body representation by moving his own body. David is controlled with a gamepad like in any Jump&Run game. The displayed body of Goliath can be used by David as an extension of the level. Goliath can help David to cross abysses or reach higher platforms. David is highly vulnerable to fire and other dangers so Goliath must help to protect David by warding off fireballs or lava streams. Both are locked up in a lava cave, and only by working together and collecting coins and keys they can manage to open the final door to freedom.
Goliath VR was created as part of Wolfgang Tschauko's master's thesis, dealing with body presence in VR, and has won the SAGA Audience Choice Award 2017 (Button Festival - Graz) and the Best Concept Award 2017 (ReVersed Festival - Vienna).
