The 20th annual Independent Games Festival -- the longest-running and largest showcase for independent game developers -- recently closed its call for submissions, and organizers are very proud to proclaim that nearly 600 entries have been accepted into the IGF 2018 Competition!
The long-running and perennially popular festival -- which is co-located with Game Developers Conference 2018 -- welcomed those submissions from a diverse array of experienced indie developers, first-time entrants and students.
Among the hundreds of exciting submissions entered into this year's IGF Competition are notable games like Infinite Fall's Night in the Woods, The Sexy Brutale from Cavalier Game Studios and Tequila Works, and Suspicious Developments' new game Heat Signature.
Plus, Subset Games' Into the Breach is entered to compete alongside games like Bennett Foddy's Getting Over It With Bennett Foddy, Asymetric's West of Loathing, Golden Glitch's Elsinore, and many more. You can read the full list of IGF entries here.
This year, each of the IGF 2018 Competition award categories will feature six finalists, except the Nuovo Award, which will have eight. The IGF finalists will be announced in January 2018, and all will be available in playable form at the IGF pavilion on the GDC 2018 show floor.
IGF award-winners will be honored live on stage at the IGF Awards ceremony during the 2018 Game Developers Conference in March, and showcased in the IGF Pavilion on the GDC Expo Floor from March 21st-23rd.
GDC 2018 itself will be taking place that entire week (March 19th-23rd) at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, and the IGF-related Independent Games Summit will take place March 19th and 20th.
The festival's organizers have also provided an official JSON feed, which is updated regularly from live backend data. Teams can update their games entries, and interested IGF followers are welcome to use this feed to make their own custom IGF entry lists and pages.
