Nearly five years in the making, Ring Runner combines the deep customization and rich story of an RPG with the fast-paced action of a space shooter. The over 300 abilities, which are attached to pieces of gear, can be equipped by the 65 playable ships, each presenting a unique template for customization. None of the gear you acquire is ever made obsolete and every ability can change the way you play the game.
The 20-hour long story-driven campaign is an extension of a full-length Sci Fi novel, giving us a deep, fertile universe. Players will awaken from (un)elective brain surgery with no prior memories. Fortunately, they've just had a Neuro-HUD implanted into their brains that will guide them through the universe. Unfortunately, this device's personality, Nero, is a bit of a smart alec. Players will become embroiled in a feud between two trash-moguls in The Litter Glitter Galaxy. If they survive King Kruegler's gladiatorial arena, they'll find themselves hunted for the price of (not "on") their head. Bounty hunters and prospectors alike will be after the 42 molecules of precious duril that are wedged into a wrinkle in their brain, the very same duril that grants them the power of the Sages. They must dive into the colorful Subrostrum, the space beneath atoms, and master the ways of a Sage if they are to survive.
The four Scenario Modes, Spire (Base) Battle, Deathmatch, Wave Survival, and Gladiator (Boss) Mode, can be challenged either through local two-player coop in a "Duo" ship, alone, cooperatively online, or competitively online. The backgrounds, level layouts, and AI in these modes are all procedurally generated, offering potentially hundreds of hours of entertainment.
