Description

Clinical trials are essential for discovering which medical interventions work on children and which don't, or which don't work the same way on children as they do on adults. Yet without participation from children in these trials, that can't be known with certainty. Many children and their families are unfamiliar with clinical trials or hesitant to participate in them because of notions they hold about what might happen in a clinical trial.

WisdomTools and the New England Research Institutes have partnered to help dispel the myths and misconceptions that surround clinical trial participation. Using a serious game called Paper Kingdom, we are teaching children and their families about the reality of clinical trials—what they are, what the risks are, and what the benefits are.

In this role-playing video game adventure your brother escapes into a book so he does not have to take his medicine. The player follows him into the book to learn about his fears and teach him about clinical studies. On this paper adventure, you will meet characters who want to help, or stop you from helping. As the player interacts with these characters, they learn about and help them defeat fears and myths of clinical trials. Visit the jungle, desert, ice, forest and robotic world on your way to reach the final volcano and save your brother and help him conquer his own fears and you overcome your own!

Audience and Rating: This game is intended for kids aged 8 to 14 years. It is rated "E" for everyone.
