Every session, MonRiverGames has a public pitch day in which it invites ideas from the public to be presented and voted on by members of the studio. The idea selected in the Fall 2022 student session was "What if our cats were spies?", pitched by WVU student Tessla Muir. The students, some new to game design and development, each created their own unique level as part of this broad concept. Then, they worked together to plan out how the game's overarching story and maintain some consistency within the idea. Through playtesting at local events, they've worked on making the experience better and will continue to do so through the Spring 2023 session. This method of working, in which an overarching idea is selected and members of the studio each plan a unique level that falls within the idea, has been an excellent way for the student team to bond and learn by doing.
