Let me tell you a story about a fictional free-for-all! Paper Cut is an exciting card game based around the world and mechanics of traditional 1v1 fighting games. Do you usually find fighting games difficult to get into? Are you more of a veteran who is looking for a new twist on the genre? Either way, you'll have a great time!

When a fight begins, two players take turns playing cards that represent attacks. The attacks clash against each other, and the turn is resolved based on the attributes of the cards played. If a player activates a specific series of cards over several turns, they unleash a devastating combo that deals massive damage! The players continue taking turns attacking each other until one emerges as the champion.

But our story isn't done yet! The game entirely takes place inside the whimsical confines of a children's pop-up book. The arena in which the fight takes place is made of pop-up paper, and the fighters are cardboard cut-outs on sticks. Paper Cut includes a wide variety of selectable fighters, and each one has a deck themed to their specific fighting style. You can even play as a penguin! What more could you want?

Remember trying to memorize the names, symbols and qualities of each element on the Periodic Table in high school chemistry class? Did it make your eyes light up like Neon (Ne) or your eyelids droop like lead (Pb)? Learning the basic chemical building blocks of the world and space around us isn't easy, so we are using a team of fictional characters in a colorful imaginary world to make it fun and simple enough for even a five-year-old to begin scaling the elemental grid a golden (Au) learning opportunity, so to speak.

Perios - The Elemental Quest, an educational tool for children, parents and educators, is designed to teach children helpful chemistry basics while they are immersed in the game so they can recognize and understand those fundamentals when they begin that subject at school. Each perio is a fictional character whose name, traits, family and powers are based on an actual corresponding element in the Periodic Table of Elements. Carbo, for example, is named for carbon, a solid non-metal element. Two gases helium and nitrogen become the perios Helen and Nitro. The perios belong to different clans that match the Periodic Table groups, such as alkaline earth metals, non-metals, halogens, and noble gases, among others. They live in Perioland's various regions, which represent different environments where their corresponding elements typically are found. The object of the series first game is to explore Perioland, catch the perios and bring them home. The game has three stages of difficulty, with 10 levels in each stage.

Planet Alpha 31 is a story driven puzzle platformer, mixed with bits of action and exploration that takes place in a beautiful, dangerous alien world.

During your stay on the planet, you will face both alien and human enemies, each having to be overcome in a different way. To survive you will have to explore and to be observant of this strange place - head on approach rarely works - think before you shoot.
A tribute to the old-school games I grew up with, there will be little to no hand-holding in Planet Alpha 31.

The events take place in a living and constantly changing alien world: realtime day and night cycle affects everything on the planet, the Terra-formation process shapes the landscape before your eyes and the 2nd dimension that became accessible during the incident will offer a special experience.

The ability to change the planet rotation will allow you to control alien technology and to affect the planet biosphere - this special mechanic is tied to every part of the gameplay, from puzzle solving to platforming and action.

"The best parts of StarCraft and Hearthstone" - PC Gamer

Fast-paced and easy to learn, Prismata borrows familiar concepts from real-time strategy games, collectible card games, and tabletop strategy games, combining them in a radical new way. Fans have described Prismata as "a strategy card game with no randomness", and as "a turn-based RTS with no map." As a truly innovative strategy game, Prismata belongs in a genre of its own.

Featuring simple and elegant economic and combat mechanics, Prismata rewards tactical, strategic, and decisive play. Will you execute a perfectly-timed rush? Or will you build up a monstrous economy and steamroll your opponent with a massive army? Maybe you'll change your plans entirely when you see what your opponent has in mind!

Prismatica's whole new twist on puzzle games is a breath of fresh air in the casual mobile game selection. Inspired by Rubik's Cubes, Sudoku puzzles, Dodecahedrons and way, way too much caffeine, Prismatica offers a simple yet surprisingly deep and unique puzzle experience unlike anything you've tried before (yes, I know everyone says that about their games but trust me).

Despite being casual, mobile and indie, Prismatica remains completely free of gems, fruit, candy, in-app-purchases, ads, pixel-art, chip-tunes and similar shenanigans. Instead Prismatica's aesthetic design and feel is intended to be calm and essentialist, presenting the player with a pure puzzle to focus on solving in a flowing natural way. A hauntingly beautiful soundtrack by award winning indie folk musician Svarar Knutur reinforces the stoic atmosphere of contemplation and mental challenge presented by the deceptively simple looking puzzles.

An overwhelmingly positive feedback from the people at the jam and all those who played it during a showcase, made the idea take new life and we decided to expand its horizons, much further than a simple three day game.

The concept of Ripple is to give the player a relaxing environment to navigate. We focused on simplicity to achieve this. The mechanics are simple; click to make a ripple, collect flowers, and avoid whirlpools. We tried to make the aesthetics of water as visually appealing as possible and to make the environments themselves very calming. Our game is aimed at anyone who needs a breather, a moment to just sit back and relax.

The focus was always to keep the game as simple and relaxing to the player as possible. It wasn't just enough to be different from the rest, we wanted to make something that really showed off its own best traits. We are very proud of how we used our design goals to inform our decision making from the art and its simple style, to the one button mechanics, to the layout of the level, and we think it all comes together to form an enjoyable experience.

"A colourfully cosmic trip through space and sound".

The game is a genre mash of endless runner, beat matching music based around the science of colour theory and sound analysis, complimented by its unique rotoscoped aesthetics.

Use light beams to mix colours according to the real world application of colour mixing with lights to produce the colours of the spectrum. These mixed colours then correlate to specific sound beats based on the sounds real life frequencies. So bass sounds which have a low sound frequency relate to reds and yellows as they have a low frequency on the light spectrum. Conversely, the high frequency sounds match the high frequency colours of blue and violet. This is done to evoke a sense of Chromesthesia (associating sounds to colours) on the player. After each bar of the song, you 'deposit' the colours you have collected into a light prism which disperses them to the far reaches of the galaxy, adds another layer of sounds to the audio (you build the song as you play) and returns you to white, ready to start again with increased speed.

A much simpler explanation:

Mix colours> match to the sounds > make a rainbow > build the song > achieve light speed!
The visuals have all been rotoscoped. That is, live footage of a person running in 60fps has been hand traced every frame. This creates some of the smoothest sprite based animation you can find.

RumbleTV is a multiplayer first person shooter with MOBA elements where players pick one of three types of convicts and fight for freedom on a prison planet for live entertainment. Players work together to overtake objectives and fight other teams of players, working to gain experience and use special abilities to defeat and explode the opposing team.

The vision for the game was set from the beginning of pre-production. Our developers were determined to make a fun, functional, and most importantly polished first-person shooter that derived gameplay elements from MOBAs and had our unique influence. Our pre-production team worked all through the summer before we even received credit for the project to finalize what our design would be moving forward. As a result, the final piece looks almost identical to the concept artwork and initial gameplay demos we had at the start of our production phase. Huge amounts of effort went into making the game into a proud piece for us to show off to friends, family, and professionals, and we're very confident in feeling we hit the mark. Despite some drastic decisions to make the game more stable in a very bleeding edge engine--like cutting networking--we're proud that RumbleTV is as fun as it is, and we all have a blast playing it.

Compose a team of comic book heroes, each with their own playstyles, backstories, and grudges. Pit them against a variety of maniacal and formidable villains. Defeat your enemies and save the Multiverse! Sentinels of the Multiverse is the award-winning, card-battle game in which players join forces as heroes to combat a dastardly villain in a dynamic environment. It is a completely faithful digital adaptation of the card game. The digital version of Sentinels of the Multiverse plays like a comic book come to life. The rules of the game are deceptively simple: Play a Card, Use a Power, and Draw a Card. What makes Sentinels of the Multiverse unique is that each card has special abilities that can create powerful combos or even change the rules of the game!

Our vision with the digital adaptation of Sentinels of the Multiverse was heavily informed by the most common comment about the card game - That it feels like playing a comic book. As we proceeded through developing the game, we constantly asked ourselves "how can this feel more like a comic book?" The most important thing we tried to do was take the feeling that you ARE a hero, and carry that over to the digital realm.

In Sentree, the Hero protects the tiny Antlers with her bulky flashlight that shoots light beams, which scares increasingly aggressive monsters back into hiding. However, the Hero (or shooter) is unable to see these monstrous apparitions, and must rely on the Antlers to point her in the right direction. The Antlers (or spotters), can see everything, but cannot defend themselves. In the real world, this means that the player with the role of the shooter is holding a smartphone and can fire, reload and aim, while the spotter or spotters are looking at a tablet device with a depiction of the game world. Sentree hinges entirely on communication between players. Mastering Sentree will require you to build or draw on trust relationships, and at the same time offers an engaging way to entertain people at a party.

Shadow Tag is a competitive split screen first-person shooter in which you can only see your opponent's shadow. Featuring a unique blend of stealth, parkour, gunplay, and bizarre humor, the game is easy to learn but hard to master. Shadow Tag supports local play for 2 - 4 players. Grab your controllers, your friends (if you have any), and the biggest screen you can find; it's never been more fun hiding in the dark.

Shadow Tag is a student solo project. It is a split screen competitive shooter in the guise of a lighthearted party game. The game strives to make the first-person shooter experience thematically friendly to newcomers by defusing the aggressive competitive energy traditional shooters tend to cultivate. This is done without sacrificing the game's high skill ceiling and competitive gameplay. Shadow Tag started as a side project; people enjoyed playing it, so I kept working on it. In truth, it has always been a passion project. I made Shadow Tag because I love working on it. Love makes you do strange things. At first, you think you're making a four week prototype. Next thing you know it's four in the morning and you forgot to sleep again. You're shivering in your unheated garage, recording the strangest dialogue you've ever written in the most bizarre voices you've ever made, and scared to death that no one will find any of it funny. I can't lie: it was a blast. I hope you enjoy playing Shadow Tag as much as I enjoyed making it.

Social Contact is a simulation of political philosophy. The player follows the evolution of abstracted individuals whose lives are dictated by our subjective assumptions. By choosing a specific set of conditions at the beginning of each chapter, we then witness the becoming of abstracted individuals according to our beliefs. Are we inherently friendly? How do we react to the presence of others? Where does our culture come from? How do we relate to the resources present in our world? Social Contact asks all of these questions and offers the player a chance to ponder these questions while gazing at the unfolding of her world.

Social Contact also exists in the constant struggle between objectivity and subjectivity, between the systemic and the individual. While agents in the simulation exist as a group, they remain nonetheless singular individuals, each with their own experiences, thoughts and hopes. Lying in the middle of the simulation, then, is the generation of individual voices that the player can listen to, but not affect, realizing as such the undeniable power of assumptions an a political scale, constant tension between one and many.

Sound of the Rain is a physics-based puzzle game in which the player's actions help create the music. In each puzzle, the player's goal is to guide a falling ball (the Droplet) so that it hits all of the special star blocks. The player also has control over an assortment of blocks in the level that they can move and rotate freely. Notes are played whenever the Droplet hits a block, and upon completion of the puzzle, all of the notes played in the level become a new layer of music within the song.

Sound of the Rain was developed for our Junior-level game project class. We wanted to make a simple, highly polished experience we could both be proud of at the end. We wanted to center our game's design on music, and music creation, but we also wanted to give the player a strong goal, so that they weren't just making music "for music's sake!" Accessibility, making the game so that anyone (including non-gamers) could easily pick up and play it, was also a strong goal of ours.We chose to theme our game after Rain because it is a naturally musical element of our world, known for making a broad range of sounds on its own, which allowed us a broad range of options for how we chose to emulate it. It is also something that most players, if not all, are already highly familiar with (especially if they're from the northwest), which would contribute to the accessibility of the game's concept. The four verses (of three puzzles each) thematically follow the progression of a thunderstorm, while the special block types we use are meant to bear characteristics of different phases a storm may go through.

An old fashioned Real Time Strategy game for iPad + Mac! Players take control of a robot army, tasked with seeking out precious mushrooms wherever they may be found! Along the way, they'll do battle with devious opponents hell-bent on their destruction, all to appease the mysterious (and probably evil) Emperor! The game lets players build bases, research new technologies and send large armies of units to attack the enemy across 8 campaign missions. There's also a custom game mode that lets players tweak the AI strength and rules of the game, this can be used to create extra-challenging games. Built on a custom engine I designed specifically for this game, it features cute isometric graphics with real-time lighting, a fairly sophisticated AI that can adapt to the actions of other players, positional sound effects, voiceover and a great soundtrack by Aaron Lemke. Space Harvest II is the sequel to my 2010 game 'Space Harvest', a daft RTS game for iPhone / iPod Touch. Space Harvest II is a solo project, a labour of love more than 5 years in the making, and an unabashed homage to Dune II, the 1992 real-time strategy game I loved as a teenager.

Space Salvage is a procedurally generated 2D open world that you, the drifter, must scavenge. You only start with minimal equipment, and it is up to you to continue exploring the landscape, bringing abandoned supply crates to your ship, leaving and buying upgrades, and protecting yourself from the many hazards you may encounter while you explore this world. You have three gauges you must monitor: Oxygen, Health, and Suit Integrity. Only losing health can kill you, but losing oxygen and suit integrity can lead that to be much sooner than anticipated. In addition to maintaining your own safety, you have a cable which connects from you to your ship. This cable can be extended and contracted regarding the length that you have purchased, and feeds oxygen to you while connected. It can be easily destroyed, snagged, caught, or sliced up by the several hazards within the world, so it adds an additional factor of difficulty with survival.

Sequel to the 2009 IGF Mobile Game of the Year and iPhone Game of the Year, now designed for multiple platforms! In Spider: Rite of the Shrouded Moon you play a spider who spins webs of your own design to trap insects and make your way through an abandoned estate, leaving the place covered in cobwebs. An innovative feature uses your real world location and matches the time and weather in the game with what's happening outside your window. More than atmosphere and immersion, this feature introduces gameplay variations into every level. Crickets and fireflies come out at night, mosquitoes during the rain, you can't go up the water spout when it's raining, lightning strikes the weathervane, and much more. Even the real life moon phase comes into play.

It's possible to breeze through Spider as a casual player, but you'll miss its many layers of depth. To master the scoring system, you must exhibit the careful planning, patience, and agility of a real spider. If you like stories and mystery, you'll discover an enormous environmental narrative told without words or dialog. Several optional puzzles add up to a final Uber puzzle. What's clear is that Blackbird Estate was built long ago by a secret society. But why? What is their secret? Seeking always to blur the lines between character vs. player, game vs. reality, Spider culminates in the deepest layer of all: The Knights of the Buried Chambers were a real secret society, and you'll need to do real research and embark on real adventures to find the true ending of the experience.

In a hospital not so far away, kids with specials need to learn to drive a wheelchair. Star Kart is based on principles from board games. In the game, parent and clinicians are game masters and kids active players. The game module of the kid is all about learning in fun and shared context. The mascot of the game guide kids through the different obstacle and games. While it is a serious game, some parts of the game are there solely for their entertainment value to stimulate kids and create a positive experience. Clinicians adapt the playground and objectives of the game in regard to the performance obtained from different metrics from the experience of the kid. Parents can play with an adapted interface where they take control of the mascot of the game. They can play hide and seek, tag or help his kid learn skills needed to drive his wheelchair. Star Kart is a suggestion of what could be the next step in the evolution of serious gaming in the context of healthcare: a therapeutic sandbox aiming to humanize care by stimulating interaction between the subject and individuals committed to his well-being: the clinicians, the parents and friends... Using videogame mechanics and technology, methodology from virtual reality and the power of connectivity, we designed a context in which we teach the basics of motor, cognitive and social behaviors needed to drive a Wheelchair.

STEAMVILLE is the latest captivating puzzle adventure game by Telehorse. It takes place in the same steampunk universe as our award-winning Steampunker. Once again we meet Vincent, our Steampunker hero, who engages in combat in the town of Steamville, fighting evil robots from outer space. Vincent's only weapon are small electro-bombs. Such a bomb cannot destroy the robot. It can shock him for a while, lure him or turn on a mechanism which opens a gate or a bridge and allows Vincent to move further. Vincent has to walk through Steamville's streets, choosing his route very carefully, so that the robot chasing him is destroyed when it hits upon a high-voltage electrical device.
The difficulty level varies a lot. The task seems fairly easy in the first scene. Once you progress further, you need to try much harder to make various walking and flying robots hit straight upon a giant Tesla coil.

Super Rude Bear Resurrection is a masocore platformer that anyone can beat it.

Each time Rude Bear dies, his corpse stays behind, making the game incrementally easier. As your bodies pile up, you can use them as carpets, meatshields and paperweights, until the game gradually reaches your comfortable level of difficulty.

It's never necessary to die, and hardcore platforming enthusiasts are encouraged to beat the whole game without dying, but people who are new to the genre and gaming itself can get through the game with a moderate amount of determination. Competent players are never coddled, and attempting to beat the entire game without dying is just about one of the most difficult challenges in any released game, but the game is accessible by all.

For the soundtrack we're working with one of the UK's biggest Hip-hop producers for an original Grime soundtrack. Every level in the game has its own track, which showcases British underground music, and ties in with the rest of the game's grafitti aesthetics and grime references.

Winner of Ludum Dare 28's innovation category, and one of the long running Rude Bear jam series from Ludum Dare, of which there are 10 games now and some ridiculous lore.

Swordy is a local-multiplayer physics brawler about momentum and timing.

It is designed to be played with friends in the same room, on the same couch sharing the experience together. It is easy to pick up and play, but has a lot of nuance and potential for mastery by using analogue input where possible. This enables a human element to shine through the onscreen characters in the way they swing and throw objects and weapons.

Swordy's core gameplay is physics based combat. It is "easy to learn, but hard to master". The player is able to get a real sense of weight and cohesion because of the physics interactions. It just feels good to swing a sword, to throw a hammer, to get a good swing on someone and see the juicy outcome of characters flying, weapons and coins dropping and blood splattering.

Synonymy is a non-profit, educational word game narrated by Richard Dawkins in which players are challenged to find the paths between random words through their network of synonyms. By taking the synonym of a word, and then a synonym of that synonym, and so on, you can ultimately arrive at any other word in the English language! Synonymy supports multiplayer, and weekly challenges in which word game enthusiasts can compete globally on set start and end words. Inclusion for foreign languages is in the works such that you could jump between languages mid-game, i.e. start in Japanese and end in German.
